America's Lifeline Emergency Response Team (ALERT) is dedicated to supporting families affected by Hurricane Helene, focusing on those who have been overlooked, including the elderly, individuals with disabilities, families with children with special needs, and veterans.
From November 2024 to October 23, 2025, we successfully raised approximately $56,896 and allocated $56,110.28 to provide financial assistance to 125 families through our Adopt a Family program. we directly pay utilities, landlords, and mechanics whenever possible. Our fiscal year runs from January 1 to December 31.
In addition, we supported another 65 families at the Silver Creek Hub and connected hundreds of families with essential resources, including delivering 260 campers. Notably, our North Carolina advocate coordinated the delivery of a new home for a family with a young child battling leukemia in November 2025.

A dedicated mom, who has recently been diagnosed with life-threatening health issues, is facing an overwhelming challenge. She and her young child, who also has medical issues, moved to Tennessee after the hurricane.
Their current landlord sold the property, and they must move by December 7th. We are working hard to help them secure a new home, but we need to raise **$950** for first month's rent/deposit by the deadline. Her significant other is her full-time unpaid care giver. Services are scheduled to begin middle of December, and they will be in a position to be self-sustaining, as he will be able to go back to work.
This family has been fully vetted by our organization and truly deserves a chance for stability and safety. If you can contribute even a small amount, it will make a BIG difference in their lives.
Let’s come together to support this brave family during this difficult time. Please share widely and donate if you can!
Their new landlord accepts PayPal, so it will be easiest for tax deductible donations to be made to our Charity PayPal account for America's Lifeline Emergency Response Team Foundation or via the QR code
We are currently advocating for more than 80 homeowners in Western North Carolina and East Tennessee who were denied FEMA assistance for various reasons. Local organizations and agencies are increasingly referring cases to us, sometimes on a weekly basis. We are seeking partnerships with other organizations to help these families rebuild their homes. The majority of these homeowners belong to one or more of the following groups: individuals with disabilities, the elderly, veterans, and families with special needs children. If you're interested in collaborating with us, please reach out at info@alertdisaster.org.
This WNC family was denied assistance through FEMA due to living on family property with two houses on the property. The mom had major surgery and was unable to work this month. Their home is still severely damaged from Helene and they have been slowly paying and doing the repairs themselves. If you are an organization or a church who wants to help this family rebuild/ repair their home, please contact us at info@alertdisaster.org. Monetary donations can be made through our link at the top of the page and notate fam of 4.
Update 12/3/25: An organization has stepped up to help rebuild her home. A camper has been provided for her and the grandchildren to live in while the house is being rebuilt! May still need materials donated.
WNC Widowed grandmother who works in the medical field & raising her two special needs grandchildren needs home rebuilt. Her home was heavily damaged from Helene and the mold has taken over the house making it unsafe for them to live in it. No assistance from federal agencies nor insurance. Looking for an organization to rebuild her home who will not charge her.
This young woman in ETN fled a domestic violence situation with her infant. She has reached out to numerous organizations in her area but they are all out of funding. She needs $500 for rent. This can be paid through the link at the top of the page and notate DV with infant.
Help us raise awareness of the needs still existing in ETN and WNC by sharing our website, social media pages, and events with your friends, family, and colleagues.
