DONATE NOW TO HELP FAMILIES IN NEED IMPACTED BY HURRICANE HELENE.
Streamlining, coordinating and networking all aspects of the civilian response to natural and manmade disasters.
It all began at the start of Hurricane Irma in 2017 when a few of us were invited by mutual friends to process and verify rescue requests via social media. We worked Hurricane Irma and to a lesser degree Hurricane Maria. During the 2018 disaster season we started creating and running Facebook groups for specific disasters and regions. We saw the need to provide timely, accurate information to those in the affected areas and to their loved ones outside the disaster areas. It was at the beginning of Hurricane Florence that we chose the name America's Lifeline Emergency Response Team or A.L.E.R.T. A.L.E.R.T worked Hurricanes Florence and Michael and the Woolsey and Camp Fires in California during 2018. In 2019, we worked the Wetumpka and Beauregard Alabama tornadoes and the historical flooding in the Midwest and the wildfires in Australia.
We officially incorporated and became a non profit in April 2019. In 2020 and 2021 we helped with the Iowa Derecho, the tornadoes in the Ohio Basin and Mid South, and the tropical systems that made US landfall. The 2022 and 2023 disasters worked include wildfires, tornadoes and blizzards and Hurricanes Ian, Nicole and Idalia. So far this year (2024) we helped with the multiple tornado outbreaks that ravished the nation's heartland, Colorado and California Wildfires and are currently in full disaster mode with the aftermath of Hurricane Helene and preparing for Hurricane Milton to strike.
We have made invaluable connections throughout the civilian disaster response world and have seen the need to improve coordination throughout our disaster relief networks. A few of our original core team members are still are with us. We also have been fortunate to find others with the same community service mindset to join our team. Our team has worked many natural disasters from gathering information to dispatching Boots on the Ground to being Boots on Ground. We pride ourselves in creating a social media hub to get up-to-date information out to the masses during natural and manmade disasters.
Our team has been involved in many disaster relief efforts. Those disasters include Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Michael, Maria, Dorian, Florence Ian, Nicole, Idalia and Helene, the Camp Fire in California, and the wildfires in Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, Colorado and Arizona.
Our Boots on the Ground teams have helped with human, large animal and pet evacuations. Through our many resources we have provided livestock with bales of hay to survive. We have teamed up with other groups and businesses to get bottles and trucks of water into affected areas, wherever they may be. We have worked with other organizations to get supplies into affected areas and have warehouses available for supplies. We have partnered with local businesses and organizations to set up hubs for hay, fencing, human supplies and many other resources.
At a moments notice, our team is ready to activate for a disaster. We are constantly monitoring weather patterns to anticipate any potential for disaster. We use our social media platforms to share preparedness tips; weather forecasts and warnings; local, state and federal agencies updates regarding evacuation notices, evacuation shelters openings, civil emergencies; and for disaster relief coordination.
We strive to be a clearinghouse for information before, during and after a disaster. We provide administrative services to Boots on The Ground. Verifying information for welfare/wellbeing checks, running logistics, mapping them to their destination safely. We also assist other groups on setting up supply hubs, networking on evacuating animal shelters and so much more!
