Rose is a native of Western North Carolina where she lives with Jeff, her husband of 25 years. She is the mother of 3 children and grandmother of 6. She is a major animal advocate and has owned rescue animals most of her life. Rose is retired and spent her time prior to Hurricane Helene advocating for the homeless and domestic violence survivors in her area. Rose’s home sustained substantial damage during Hurricane Helene and she also lost a vehicle from the flooding. Rose has been actively helping other survivors since the day after the storm, checking on her neighbors and running supplies to those who could not get out. Rose ran a distribution hub in Polk County at a small campground near Green River Cove where there was extensive damage and dozens of homes destroyed. Rose has been instrumental in finding replacement campers for Helene survivors. She has connected multiple displaced families with donors of multiple campers and tiny homes. Now, she is raising awareness of the survivors who have been overlooked, including the elderly and the disabled. Due to her personal experiences and her interaction with survivors she has become one of their biggest advocates in WNC.
